New Balance 1080v12 Review: The Ultimate Guide to the Best Running Shoe from New Balance

I, as a running enthusiast and a user of the New Balance 1080v12, would like to share my thoughts and experience on this running shoe after logging over 100 miles in it.

I purchased this shoe with my own money and no one has paid me or influenced my opinions in any way. I have used this shoe as a daily trainer and a max cushion shoe and it has definitely lived up to its claims of being the best and most versatile running shoe that New Balance has ever made.

The 1080v12 has a stack height of 34 millimeters in the heel and an 8 millimeter drop, giving it 26 millimeters of Fresh Foam X in the forefoot. This foam provides excellent impact absorption from the road and has a bouncy feel, making it a pleasure to run in. The unique curve in the front of the shoe, also referred to as a rocker, helps the shoe roll forward and provides a rhythm for the run. The Hypo Knit upper is super comfortable and stretchy, providing a premium feel. The standard tongue of the shoe is not too puffy, avoiding the problem of turning into a sweat sponge. The rest of the shoe, including the back collar, is also designed to provide comfort without getting too hot.

The 1080v12 is on the heavier side, weighing 10.3 ounces or 292 grams, but due to its shape and design, it rolls well for easy and long runs, recovery runs, and regular training days. However, it may not be suitable for faster speeds or quick pace changes.

I would highly recommend this shoe for people who want more cushion than a standard daily trainer but not as much as a max cushion shoe, or for runners who are starting to increase their mileage while still feeling the comfort of a daily trainer. Additionally, runners who are bigger or taller than average would benefit from this shoe as it provides more cushion to absorb the impact of the miles.

After 100 miles, the upper of the 1080v12 still looks and feels great, and the midsole's Fresh Foam X is still durable and functional. The shoe feels like it has plenty of life left in it, even after logging 100 miles in it.

In conclusion, the New Balance 1080v12 is a highly recommended running shoe for runners looking for comfort, versatility, and durability. It has lived up to its claims of being the best and most versatile running shoe that New Balance has ever made.
