Asics GEL-Kayano 29: Discover the Revolutionary New Features of Shoes

The ASICS GEL-Kayano 29 is a complete redesign of the ASICS GEL-Kayano line, a popular choice for stability shoes. It is the lightest Kayano model ever made, weighing almost half an ounce less than its predecessor at 10.5 ounces. Despite its lighter weight, the shoe has increased stack height, with 25mm in the heel and 15mm in the forefoot. The stack height is measured differently on the ASICS website, however, as they exclude the insert and outsole from their measurement.

The upper of the GEL-Kayano 29 features an "engineered stretch knit" that offers a dense knit material for a secure and comfortable fit. The non-gusseted tongue is moderately padded, and the lacing system is robust. The heel counter is sturdy, with an internal heel counter that provides added stability. The midsole of the shoe has been updated with a dual-density approach, using flight foam blast plus, which is lighter and softer than its predecessor. The forefoot foam is more plush and bouncy, making it feel almost like a neutral road running shoe. The light truss system provides stability, with a more dense foam that wraps from the medial side and a little bit on the lateral side. The 3D space construction uses geometric shapes inside the midsole to collapse strategically for added stability.

However, one notable change from previous models is the removal of the plastic truss system, which has been replaced by the light truss system, a rubber piece that provides some stability. This removal of the plastic plate does reduce the weight of the shoe and make it more flexible, but it may also decrease the stability slightly for those who rely heavily on stability.

Overall, the ASICS GEL-Kayano 29 offers a comfortable and stable fit, with a plush and bouncy feel. While the removal of the plastic truss system may reduce the stability slightly, the shoe still provides a good level of support. If you're in the market for a stability shoe, the ASICS GEL-Kayano 29 is definitely worth considering.
